Millions of people around the world use Skype for personal communication. Many businesses use the instant messaging program too because it is easy to use, free, and convenient. There is video option too for chatting. The app includes many great features that make Skype so popular.

However, according to reports, Skype is presently jazzing up the app to launch four new features that will allow people to express themselves even better. That has become necessary because, in the meantime, a lot of messaging apps have come out, many of them with video options as well. Skype will naturally want to stay ahead of the competition it is facing.

Skype Technologies has issued a statement saying the four new features are going to be launched soon. The company says these features will help people express themselves in new ways during messaging sessions and video chats. They are going to be “very handy”.

So What Are These Four New Features?

The first will deal with in-call reactions. Like live-streaming services such as Facebook Live and Periscope, users will be able to include real-time photos, live text, and emoticons into the video calls with just a few taps. There are already quite a few of these emoticons, but Skype is planning to add many more.

There will also be the integrated camera. For example, when you are messaging with a friend, and want to capture something, all you have to do is just swipe left to access your camera. All you have to do is take the snap, and it can be shared immediately on the chat. Stickers, annotations, and emoticons can be added before sending the picture.

There are going to be big changes in the find panel as well. Users can quickly find and share news, links, restaurants, weather information, videos, sports results, and more, and that too without ever leaving the app. Skype is hoping users will then stick around for much longer and won’t be distracted by the other apps easily.

“No more switching back and forth between apps; we’re making it easy to bring the content you care about to the conversations that matter”, Skype said in a statement.

Skype Is Currently Testing These Features

It was also revealed that these new features are presently being tested. Android users can download the Skype Preview app from Google Play to test these features. iOS users need to join the Skype Insider program to try them out.
